2022 RIM Job Description

Riders In Motion is recruiting qualified candidates with a passion for motorcycle safety and excellent people skills to teach courses for Virginia’s motorcycle safety program.

 

 

Job Description:

  •  Educate new riders on motorcycle safety both in classroom and on the motorcycle range
  •  Ensure accuracy and completeness of all student training records
  •  Monitor and ensure compliance w/ safety regulations and adhere to Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Partner w/ Blue Ridge Powersports staff (in Harrisonburg, VA) to ensure a total team approach
  • The Basic RiderCourse is approximately 15 hours (not counting breaks) and is conducted over 2 or 3 consecutive days
  • Must be able to work some weekends throughout the year; additional weekday classes available
  • Make your own schedule
  • Largely seasonal March-November, this is work that can be done alongside a full-time job
  • Enjoy a largely autonomous teaching environment

Requirements:

  • Must possess current MSF RiderCoach certification (for 2 wheel Basic RiderCourse)*
    • *Not yet a certified MSF RiderCoach? Riders In Motion has limited seats available for the 4-day instructor course April 2022. Apply ASAP for the chance to reserve your seat!
      • To enroll in the Instructor Course, you must live within 45 miles of training location (Harrisonburg/ Broadway, VA)
      • The instructor course consists of a rigorous, 4-day (Mon-Thurs) in-person training April 4- 7th, 2022, in Broadway, VA (also online training modules that must be completed prior).
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license (endorsed for 2-wheel motorcycle operation) that is neither suspended, revoked, canceled, nor under probation; with less than six demerit points in the most recent 12-month period. A driving record will need to be obtained from DMV and submitted to Riders In Motion.
  • Maintain continuing education/certification requirements by MSF and Virginia’s DMV
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-discipline and motivation to make own schedule and follow through with scheduled classes
  • Passion for motorcycle safety
  • Understand Riders In Motion site operations and adhere to MSF curriculum to ensure quality assurance
  • Physical ability to walk 4+ miles per day, move heavy objects and work in environmental conditions such as rain, snow, summertime extreme heat or freezing temperatures for 5+ hours at a time
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Understanding of motorcycles and their basic mechanics preferred
